Craig Cummings Music

About

Craig at GB3

Craig’s musical road trip began as a teenager with folk music performances, accelerated to writing country-rock anthems, detoured to blue-eyed soul, and finally took a dirt road home when he set out to create his own niche playing a style of music he describes as “east coast Americana.” In the same way that Gram Parsons tried to blend musical styles to create his “cosmic American music”, Craig’s experiences playing rock, soul, country, and the blues, have resulted in a hybrid of Americana sounds unique to the east coast. Craig’s sound is most often compared to artists including Willie Nelson, Justin Townes Earle, Ryan Adams, and Jackson Browne.

Craig is a member of the Baltimore Songwriter’s Association (BSA), The Songwriter’s Association of Washington (SAW), the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA), and the Frederick Acoustic Music Enterprise (FAME). His music is currently being featured on several Internet radio stations and on the Charm City Country radio show on WPOC radio, the largest terrestrial country music station in Baltimore. He has a large and loyal following of listeners in the Washington, Baltimore, and Frederick areas.

Craig’s most recent release is a 6-song EP titled Whispering Low. He refers to the EP as a summer road trip soundtrack. Whispering Low is a radio-friendly collection of contemporary Americana music. Craig’s debut CD, Road Trips and Relationships, was released in 2009. Several new collections are in the works.

Craig’s music allows listeners to share the experiences of a Baltimore-born singer-songwriter who has never cared to forsake his mid-Atlantic roots for the opportunities that might have been provided by other venues in other places. Nashville and Austin call his name in the night, but the Baltimore/Washington area owns his heart.

Well this is pretty much how I remember you, with a guitar in hand, standing in front of microphone singing… How lucky for you that you got to pursue your passion… You look great.. I saw your email to Linda Klein and have been meaning to contact you… so now I did.. Love to Sandy!

David:
Yes that’s me. Thanks for getting in touch. Are you still in the Frederick area? I’ve been thinking that I want to get back to playing some gigs in Frederick. I always loved the town.
